Mr. David Richall, a certified CPR trainer from The Safety Company, led the session.  We learned and reviewed the techniques of Basic Life Support (which includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation - CPR) and the proper use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).  Mr. Richall also provided advanced training on recognizing sudden cardiac arrest, heart attacks, strokes, and airway obstructions due to a foreign body.

 At LDA we strive to meet or exceed all New York State Education Department guidelines because our patients' well-being is such a high priority.  We all took time from our busy schedules to practice our skills so we can be prepared if the need for this type of assistance should ever arise.  We highly recommend taking a CPR class to our patients as well.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  Our external defibrillator is the same device that is required in all public schools, airports, and other public meeting places.  Even though it is not yet mandated by New York State to be placed in dental or medical offices, the doctors here at Lancaster Dental Associates felt that it was a special service that we wanted to provide for our patients in case of emergency.
